How to set up and use 2FA and OTP authentication

Updated over a week ago

Parseur supports securing your account using two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as multi-factor authentication (MFA), or One-Time Password authentication (OTP).

What is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security system that requires two separate, distinct forms of identification in order to access your Parseur account. The first factor is your password and the second is generated by an authenticator app on your phone.

How do I enable 2FA in Parseur?

To activate two-factor authentication, go to Account > Manage Account and click on the Enable 2FA button.

Then follow the on-screen instructions:

  1. Download an authenticator app on your phone if you don't already have one installed

  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app

  3. Enter the verification code provided by the authenticator

  4. Click on Verify Code

How do I disable 2FA?

To disable two-factor authentication, you will still need to have access to the authenticator, as Parseur will ask you for the verification code to allow you to disable it.

  • Go to Account > Manage Account

  • Click on the Disable 2FA button

  • Enter the verification code

  • Click on Disable 2FA

How do I login with 2FA?

To log in to Parseur:

  • Visit the log-in page

  • Enter your email and password

  • If 2FA is enabled, you will be asked to enter the security token provided by your authenticator

  • Click Verify code

What authenticator applications are supported?

Parseur supports most authenticators, including Google, Microsoft, Authy, 1Password, and Dashlane.

How do I fix the "Invalid Token" error?

If you get an "Invalid token" error when entering your 2FA token, it means Parseur was not able to verify your security token code.

The most common reasons for getting this error are:

  • The code you entered is not related to your Parseur account. Make sure you enter the security code for the Parseur account you are trying to log into that is registered with your authenticator app.

  • Your phone clock is wrong. Double check your time settings on your phone and make sure your phone has the right date, time, and timezone setup.

Be careful; after several failed attempts, Parseur will lock you out for a few minutes before you can try entering a security code again.
