In this guide, we’ll show you how to prevent Parseur from parsing specific documents, so you only process the ones you want, without getting “New Template Needed” notifications for others.
Option 1: Prevent Documents from Being Forwarded to Parseur
The easiest way to stop unwanted documents from being parsed is to prevent them from being forwarded to Parseur in the first place.
Most email providers, like Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, and Outlook, let you set up filters when creating auto-forwarding rules. These filters can be based on the sender’s email, subject, content, or a combination of these. Using these filters, you can ensure that only the emails you want to parse are forwarded to Parseur. Check your email provider’s guide to learn more about setting up these filters.
If your email provider doesn’t support advanced filters (like Yahoo) or if managing these filters becomes too complicated, you can also prevent certain documents from being parsed directly in Parseur.
Option 2: Use the Allow List or Block List in Your Parseur Account
You can manage which emails get processed by setting up an allow list or block list in your Parseur account.
1. Go to your account settings and scroll down to the Processing section: Account Settings
2. You’ll find the “Email sender block/allow list” section.
3. Choose how you want to manage your list:
Block all emails matching the list below (blocklist): Add emails or domains that you want to block.
Block all emails EXCEPT the ones matching the list below (allowlist): Only emails or domains on this list will be allowed; all others will be blocked.
4. Add or remove emails or domains as needed. Use the red trash can icon to delete items.
5. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button to apply your changes.
Option 3: Skip Documents in Parseur
You can manually or automatically skip documents in Parseur.
Manually Skip Documents
If only a few unwanted documents slip through, you can easily skip them in the Document queue.
Open your Parseur mailbox and go to the Document queue.
Find the document(s) you want to skip.
To skip a document but keep it in the queue, click the ⏏️ Eject icon. You can do this from either the document list view or the document view. The document will be marked as “Skipped (manual)”.
To permanently delete the document, click the 🗑️ Trash icon. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Automatically Skip Documents
You can set up templates in Parseur that automatically skip or delete certain documents. For more details, see our article on Advanced Template Actions.
Use Post-Processing for Advanced Options
For more control, use the Post-Processing module to create business rules that decide which emails to skip. If you return “None” during Post-Processing, the document will be marked as skipped. This is useful for setting up custom rules, such as a blacklist or whitelist of email addresses.
