Credits, Subscriptions, and Pricing FAQ

What is a credit, how does subscriptions work and how much will it cost

Updated over a month ago

What is a Document?

A document in Parseur can be:

  • An email.

  • An attachment to an email.

  • A file directly uploaded to the app (e.g., PDF, Excel, etc.).

For example, if you send an email with a PDF attached, Parseur treats them as two separate documents.

Where Can I Find Parseur Pricing?

You can find our pricing details on the Parseur Plan Page. We also offer discounted prices for yearly and high-volume usage on that page.

How Do I Upgrade My Subscription to a Paid Plan?

To upgrade your subscription:

  1. Go to Account Settings.

  2. Click on Change Plan (direct link)

  3. Select your monthly or yearly plan

  4. Enter your billing and payment details

What’s the Difference Between Monthly and Yearly Plans?

  • Monthly Plans: Billed every month. Unused credits do not carry over. Ideal if you’re unsure you’ll need Parseur year-round.

  • Yearly Plans: Billed annually with extended credit validity for a full year and additional discounts. Best if you plan to use Parseur for an extended period.

What is a Credit? How Does It Work?

Parseur subscriptions are based on a credit system.

1 Credit = 1 Page

Emails and spreadsheets count as single page and hence cost 1 credit, irrespective of their length.

For example:

  • Processing an email costs 1 credit.

  • Processing a single-page image costs 1 credit.

  • Processing a 100-line CSV costs 1 credit.

  • Processing a one-page PDF costs 1 credit.

  • Processing a three-page PDF costs 3 credits.

  • Processing a two-page TIFF image costs 2 credits.

This means you can process 20 emails or pages per month on the free plan.

How is My Credit Usage Calculated?

Credit usage is counted for the first-time processing of a document using AI, templates, or automatic parsing methods (like CSV-parsing). Reprocessing a document is free.

The following actions do not count towards your credit usage:

  • Documents not processed.

  • Documents skipped by templates or during post-processing.

  • Documents deleted by a template (note: “process-then-delete” templates still incur charges).

  • Reprocessing already-processed documents using the same or different parsing methods. This is only valid when reprocessing existing documents. Deleting and re-uploading the same document will count credits twice.

I need more credits for testing, what can I do?

Need more credits for testing? No problem!

Remember, credits are only used the first time each document is successfully processed, so feel free to test, adjust, and refine your fields, instructions, and templates as much as you need.

If you find you need additional credits, consider upgrading to any of our small plans. If you’re not completely satisfied during testing, we’ll provide a full refund—no questions asked.

Where Can I Check My Credit Usage?

  • Current Usage: Bottom left of your screen under your name.

A screen capture of the Account badge in the left menu with the number of credits used / available shown
  • Per Document: In the header section of each document’s page.

Screen capture showing where the credit used by a document is, in the middle of the header.
  • Historical Usage: Check the “Invoices and Usage” section in your account: View Usage.

What Happens If I Exceed My Usage Limit?

  • At 90% usage, you’ll receive an email prompting you to upgrade or pause parsing.

  • At 100% usage, new documents will be marked as “Quota exceeded.” You can upgrade or wait for your next credit renewal. If “Early Renewal” is enabled, your subscription will renew automatically when nearing your limit.

Once your quota is renewed, you can process documents in "Quota exceeded" by using the "Process unprocessed" button on the document list page of your mailbox.

Can I Automatically Renew My Subscription Early?

Yes, enable Early Renewal on your Billing page to automatically renew your subscription when you approach your limit. This helps ensure uninterrupted service without the need for manual renewal.

When your subscription renews early, your billing period resets, granting you credits valid for a full month or year of service (based on your plan’s billing frequency).

Note: Early Renewal will only trigger if your last payment was made more than 24 hours ago. This safeguard is in place to prevent multiple renewals from happening too frequently.

Can I Carry Unused Credits to the Next Month?

  • Monthly Plans: Unused credits do not carry over.

  • Yearly Plans: Credits remain valid for the full year.

I Have a One-Off Project. Can I Purchase Credits Without a Subscription?

Yes! Purchase the credits you need, then immediately downgrade to the Free Plan. You’ll have one month to use your credits without further charges. If you think your project will last more than a month, consider a yearly subscription.

What Payment Methods Do You Accept?

  • Credit/Debit Cards: Visa, American Express, MasterCard, and most other networks.

  • Enterprise Plans: PO, SEPA debits, and bank wires in major currencies.

Can I Change My Subscription?

Yes, upgrade or downgrade anytime through the app: Change Subscription.

  • Upgrading: Immediate plan change, full charge, and new credit allocation.

  • Downgrading: Changes take effect in the next billing cycle.

Can I Cancel My Subscription?

Cancel anytime by switching back to the free plan: Cancel Subscription. Your subscription will end at the current billing cycle’s end, with no further payments due.

Can I Delete My Account?

Yes, you can delete your account on the Account Page in the Danger Zone section, at the bottom. Ensure you’ve canceled any paid subscriptions and stopped auto-forward rules. Once deleted, your data is permanently removed and won't be recoverable.

Can I Get an Invoice?

Invoices are emailed upon payment and are also available in your account under Invoices & Usage.

Can I Set a Different Billing Email Address?

Yes, set your billing email on the Billing Details page in your account.

Is Parseur expensive?

The price is 1 credit per page. We only charge it once, and only if the page is successfully processed. Reprocessing is free, and it's great for testing and adjusting your mailbox: you should use and abuse this. Emails always count as 1 page, even if they are very long.

We give you 20 credits every month, for free, forever. You don't even need to enter your credit card details for that.

We have to charge a higher price for low volume, because we decided to take support into our own hands, and provide a higher quality of service than what is generally observed in the industry (at least we hope 🤞). We also take defects seriously and fix them promply while providing timely feedback along the way. In short, we are artisans who take pride in their work and value quality over quantity. You can get 3 months for free if you select a yearly plan.

We offer direct support via text chat and, soon, voice chat. We do the support ourselves and don't outsource it to someone else. Talking with our users is a great way to gather feedback to better understand your needs and improve our product or even sometimes create new products or services.

You can check our Cost Saving Simulator to see if Parseur makes sense for your volume and use case compared to doing things manually. We hope this helps you better understand how Parseur works and why we decided to have this pricing strategy.

If you are looking for super-cheap service, may I suggest you take a look at our comparison article, and take a closer look at emailparser, which is a software that you install on your computer, or Zapier Parser, which is a basic service with some free credits included in the free trial plan.
